This week, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre hosted its annual Consultants Away Day — where our consultants came together to reflect on the past year, look ahead to the future, and draw inspiration as the Trust continues its mission to deliver outstanding care for our patients. This year’s theme, Delivering Excellence in Cancer Care, set the tone for a day which included lots of thoughtful discussion, insight and a few laughs.
The Trust was delighted to welcome guest speakers, Dr Mumtaz Patel, President of the Royal College of Physicians, and Dr Nicky Thorp, a former consultant at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and now Vice President of the Royal College of Radiologists. Delegates also took part in a thought-provoking Schwartz Round, led by Dr Amy Jackson and Dr Jane Younger, exploring what it truly means to belong to Clatterbridge.
Our Divisional Directors proudly presented awards to recognise the exceptional dedication and achievements of their colleagues over the past year. Congratulations to Dr Stella Williams (Acute Services), Dr Pete Robson (Radiology), and Dr Clare Hart (Networked Services) for their well-deserved honours.
The day also featured a dedicated session for our Educational and Clinical Supervisors, recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC). This session supports supervisors in providing the very best experience for resident doctors in training, helping The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre strive for gold-standard medical education. The Trust is incredibly proud of the positive feedback we receive from trainees about their teaching experiences at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
This year’s event was generously sponsored by Novartis—our sincere thanks for their support.
Thank you to all our consultants who joined us and made the day such a success!
