Foreword from our Chair and Chief Executive
Our Strategy 2026 – 2031 builds on the strong foundations of our 2021 – 2026 strategy and reaffirms our commitment to exceptional, compassionate cancer care for the people and communities we serve.
As you might expect, our strategy explains how we plan to make sure The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre continues to deliver outstanding care, visionary research and digital innovation in a collaborative and inclusive way and that we are a great place to work.
As a leading specialist cancer centre, our role extends beyond the care we provide to people referred to us. We can use our expertise, partnerships and research strengths to improve cancer care at every stage: from early symptoms and diagnosis through to treatment, recovery, life after cancer, and end-of-life care for people whose disease reaches that stage.
Our mission is to transform the lives of people living with and beyond cancer by delivering compassionate, world-class care and advancing groundbreaking research in collaboration with those we serve.
We will do this in partnership with patients, carers and the people who matter to them, working closely with colleagues across health and social care, research partners, universities and local communities. We will also be socially responsible, taking proactive action on health inequalities, environmental sustainability and the wider challenges that shape people’s health and wellbeing.
The strategy was shaped by engagement with staff, patients and our partners on the draft version we shared in May 2026. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took time to share their views and ideas and that feedback is reflected in the final version.
Over the next five years, we will turn this strategy into reality through robust business planning, clear goals and well-planned delivery programmes. Together, we will achieve our ambitions and ensure The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre continues to be a beacon of excellence in compassionate cancer care.
