Our strategy will make The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre (CCC) an even better place to work and build your career. We know people are happiest and work best when they feel valued, included and supported in an organisation they are proud to be part of with a positive, high-achieving culture where teamwork matters.
Over the next 5 years we will strengthen our employee offer and our People Commitment 2026 – 2028 will explain this in more detail.
Our workforce priorities
Developing our people
Compassionate and inclusive leadership, great learning opportunities and career pathways, coaching and mentoring, and building our talent pipeline (including digital and specialist expertise).
Supporting our people
Creating healthy, safe and compassionate working environments by focusing on wellbeing, flexible working, recognising achievement, and a culture of respect and psychological safety.
Workforce for the future
Planning now for the people and skills we will need in future, apprenticeships and other new entry routes, recruitment and retention, and working with schools, colleges and universities.
Inclusive culture
Embedding our values and behaviours, strengthening our staff networks, listening to people’s lived experience, and tackling inequality so everyone has fair access to opportunity.
What this means for you
- We will listen, act on your feedback and involve you in decisions.
- We will invest in people, equipment and technology and our estate so you have the right tools and support.
- That includes better digital systems and simpler processes to save you time and make it easier for you to focus on more important work.
- There will be compassionate leadership, stronger recognition and a culture that values every role and every individual.
- Our Kindness Campaign is just one of the ways we will make sure you feel respected, supported and safe at work, with zero tolerance for abuse and aggression towards staff.
- We will support your career progression by strengthening learning, coaching and mentoring, and placement opportunities. This will include leadership and management training at all levels.
- We will build a fair and inclusive talent pipeline as part of our workforce planning. This will help you to achieve your goals and build your career at CCC. It will also make sure we have the right people and skills for the future.
- A wider range of staff groups will be supported and encouraged to engage in research and innovation.
- Reducing inequality will be a key priority – we will listen and learn from people’s lived experiences and make sure everyone has fair (equitable) access to learning, training and career opportunities.
- Wellbeing at work will also be paramount. We will strengthen this with flexible working, fulfilling work, manageable workloads, and an open and honest culture where everyone feels safe to speak up, raise issues or offer ideas.
- We will embed the new NHS Staff Standards and the Leadership and Management Framework.
- We will also invest in and enhance the services we provide – and develop new services – so we can continue delivering outstanding care and quality for the patients and populations we serve. We will do this in partnership with teams so you can help shape how your services evolve over the next 5 years.
These are just some of the ways we plan to make CCC an even greater place to work. Find out more in Our Strategy 2026 – 2031.
