We are about to launch the next phase of our patient empowerment portal, in partnership with Patients Know Best (PKB).
Patients Know Best (PKB) is a secure online portal designed to share a complete record of care between healthcare teams and their patients.
So far, the feedback from CCC patients using PKB as part of the breast remote follow-up pathways has been overwhelmingly positive. Patients reported that PKB is straightforward to use and easy to navigate.
What’s happening now
PKB went live at CCC in Spring 2025 for a cohort of patients on the breast cancer remote follow-up pathway.
We are now preparing for a wider rollout in early 2026, starting with prostate cancer patients on remote follow-up pathways.
We plan to:
- Invite prostate patients on remote follow-up pathways to register for PKB in early January 2026
- Make their clinical information available in PKB early 2026
- Enable the Prostate clinical team to use PKB to manage ongoing follow-up care
Provide patients with access to additional features such as PSA results, a symptom diary to record how they’re feeling and two-way secure messaging
In 2026, we will be inviting all active CCC patients to register for their PKB account.
Patients will get either an SMS or an email inviting them to register for PKB so it’s important we have the correct contact details for them.
Ahead of this, we need your help:
Please ask patients to check that the email address and mobile number we have for them is up to date.
If anything needs updating, patients should tell a staff member so we can amend them.
Patients also need to tell their GP practice of any changes as GP practices hold people's main NHS record.
